Keiara Reames, a former RISE scholar, attended the American Association of Geographers Conference April 3-7, 2019.  The Conference was held at the the Marriott Wardman Park, in Washington, DC. 

Keiara is a RISE Alum who completed the Biology/Chemistry Major at Claflin in 2017 and will complete the M.S. in Biotechnology in 2019.  Her current research under Dr. Samina Assanie-Shivji focuses on the Human Papillomavirus and the immunology of low risk types of the virus.

Her research is entitled “Knowledge and Awareness of the Human Papillomavirus among College Students at a Historically Black College/University in South Carolina – Authored by Keiara Reames, Samina Noorali, Erika Rhett, Gloria S. McCutcheon Department of Biology, School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Claflin Univeristy, Orangeburg, SC

The purpose of the poster was to discuss global health issues and it focused on an HBCU in South Carolina.
